Forefield Trail - Interpretive Scenic Walk
Take a walk back in time along the Forefield Trail, and explore fascinating stories along the retreating path of the mighty Athabasca Glacier. Your experienced guide will share a wealth of information on the retreat of the glacier, its surrounding habitat and many incredible facts that will leave you in awe. This two-hour journey will provide you with visible evidence of the glacier’s path, enlightenment on the impact of glacial melt water, a behind the scenes look at this harsh environment and how plants and wildlife survive in such conditions, as well as a brief look at the human history in the area.
DEPARTURE TIMES:
Daily at 9:00am, 11:00am, 2:30pm, 5:00pm and 7:30pm
Departs from the Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre
Check-in at the ticket counter located on the main level of the Columbia Icefield Discovery Centre. Sturdy shoes are recommended.
NOTE: THIS TOUR DOES NOT VENTURE ONTO THE GLACIER SURFACE.
