Working at the Banff Gondola

Working At The Gondola

During the summer, the Banff Gondola is open to the public from 8:30 am to 9:00 pm, 7 days a week. Various shifts are scheduled throughout the week and transportation is provided to get you to work on time. Your job can require you to work either at the base of the lift or at the Summit Complex. The Summit of Sulphur Mountain is at 2,281m (7,486 feet) above sea level.

Living in Banff

As a community, Banff has every service to offer - a movie theater, grocery stores, recreation facilities, shopping, restaurants, bars, and pizza delivery! Favourite gathering spots are Central Park, Bow Falls, and a few other places for you to discover on your own.

Canada Day celebrations in Banff are among the best in the country - not to be missed. And once those are finished, the Calgary Stampede is a favourite attraction for everyone.

Banff's local weather can be quite unpredictable - it's normal to get snow at least one day of every month of the year, so pack accordingly! Throughout most of the summer, the weather is quite nice with sunny, warm days and cool nights.

Spending a summer working in Banff is an excellent opportunity to discover the Canadian Rockies through hiking, biking, climbing, canoeing, camping, or just being outdoors. There are literally hundreds of trails to discover for people of all fitness levels and abilities. There are even trails right on Sulphur Mountain - right out the back door of your workplace. The views of the mountains around Banff are spectacular and can be enjoyed in many ways.

Staff Accommodations

Banff Gondola staff resides in the town of Banff at our Cougar Street accommodations. This building is for the exclusive use of staff members that are currently employed at the Gondola. Brewster subsidizes this staff housing, with your portion of the cost payroll deducted. This means that you do not have to go through the hassles of finding your own living quarters, dealing with landlords, rent cheques, power companies etc. However, it also means if you lose your job, you also lose your accommodations.View of Banff from top of Gondola

Each unit in the Cougar Street building is a single bedroom apartment that is shared by up to three people. Every apartment is furnished with couches, a table and chairs, and beds.  The apartments are also equipped with a kitchen so that you may prepare your meals. Laundry facilities and payphones are located on the main floor. Cable TV service is provided, however televisions are not. We also provide high speed internet connections in staff accommodation rooms (however not wireless internet).

Staff may have telephone service connected to their room by contacting the local telephone companies once you arrive and your room is assigned; Brewster does not provide this amenity. Also, Please note that you must provide your own bed linens and cookware.

Banff Gondola charges a rate of $10.50 per night for your rent at the Cougar Street accommodations.

Because you work in the town of Banff, there are other options available for accommodations. The Banff Gondola does not require staff to live in their provided accommodations; it is simply the easiest way to find a place to live while you work at the Gondola!
